The Summer Moon teahouse has a square floor plan and is available in a number of sizes from 1.8m to 3m square. The configurations shown illustrate the variety of the finished teahouses possible. The bottom illustration shows it with diagonal lattice panels and shoji panel with moon window; the roof having the full upswept corners. The pictures above show the more gently curving roof forms as seen on traditional Japanese buildings. The horizontal and vertical latticework in the left hand picture is of Buddhist origins. The Summer Moon may be configured as a fully enclosed teahouse with shoji panels, moon window and sliding doors or partially enclosed gazebo with shoji rear panel and lattice panel sides or totally open pavilion. Simple bamboo gutters can be added over the entrance. Alternatively an extruded copper gutter, hopper, fittings and copper crown cup style rain chain with bowl is available.
See miscellaneous section for details of base construction.
