The Chinese Song dynasty bridge has been inspired by the highly arched "full moon" bridges as seen in Suzhou (top image), which has many such bridges over its famous canals. The bridge is either fully stepped or with steps at lower levels and deck at the apex. The fully stepped full moon effect is available in a limited range of sizes only. The standard width is 0.8m. The bridge is constructed with a timber "A" frame clad with treated tongue and grooved floor boarding with deck boards as steps. The sides have short posts and curved safety rail. The bridge is finished in a choice of our standard colours.
The lower image is a 9.5m bridge by 1.2m width and rise of 1.5m over the River Colne and is a "half moon" variant. The bridge is made in two sections secured with hidden steelwork under the bridge and fitted with anti-whip stays to provide stability. The bridge requires mechanised lifting facilities to put in place.
